WELCOME TO DRIVEKIND LET'S PROCLAIM DECEMBER 9TH "DRIVEKIND" DAY
"How did your driving go today? See any aggressive drivers? Can you think of any foolish driving you may have done today? See anyone driving stupid? Are your passengers acting responsibly? Are drivers driving kind? Let me tell you about my day and what I saw."
We,as parents, need to interact more with our young childrens driving experiences everyday just like we ask how was their day at school, how was soccer practice, etc. Our interests should include, not only their academics, sports, music, but also the profound responsibility associated with getting behind the wheel.
The www.drivekind.com idea was developed as a result of losing our 15 year old daughter, Krystal Ebel, and her friend Shayna Linneen, from a car accident. There were so many incidents that lead to this tragedy that also could have prevented it from happening. Consequently, I began thinking, we, as parents, need to get more involved with our young drivers and their daily experiences driving or being a passenger in their friends vehicle. Every parent thinks about receiving one of "those" phone calls and it is our worst nightmare. Our family never thought in a million years that we could actually hear such devastating news. Forever we will be saddened from losing Krystal and all happy events will be bittersweet because we will all be missing Krystal. Krystal had goals and it was our dream to see her pursue her hopes and aspirations. Krystal, in a million years, never thought that she wouldn't fulfill her dreams and grow to reflect upon memories of her life.....Love her forever, like her for always, as long as we're living our baby she'll be.....(Source:Love You Forever)XXOOMom&Dad
Mission Statement: The mission of "drivekind" is to increase interactions between parents and their children's daily driving experiences, provide information and improve knowledge and understanding of the young driver and ultimately reduce the number of accidents and needless lives lost.
This website is continually being updated. Please be patient. As a grieving mom, I have my setbacks. Thanks, Donna P.S. We cannot thank those enough who have donated their time to help us develop this web-site. Thank-you Steve Comer of SCWIT who designed site, P.J. Waxman (my nephew) who drew this logo based upon my awful free drawing, Christine Diot who transposed P.J.'s napkin drawing to a nice computer graphic and to my family who loves Krystal forever and to Krystal who continually inspires all of us. www.krystal-ebel.memory-of.com
"DRIVEKIND" is a Non-Profit Organization - All Profits go to support programs dedicated to teaching driving skills to our young drivers and to make schools more appealing for teens to want to stay on campus during lunch. Krystal lost her life because, of many factors, and one of them was that her school had an "open" campus policy that supported students to leave campus for their lunch period. Based upon new knowledge, we need to encourage all school districts to have a "closed" campus because our children aren't equipped with the necessary skills to make it safe for them to leave school for their lunch. We know that they drive to school and drive home, but if we can keep them off the roads for one more hour during the day, we will surely decrease the opportunity for them to be involved in car accidents while in highschool.
Mesa Highschools in Mesa, Arizona, I am proud to say, are now closed except for seniors who are in good standing with regards to their grades. Too late for Krystal and Shayna but maybe, just maybe, we won't lose any more of our children during lunch as a result of a car accident. I thank Debra Duvall, Mike Hughes, Cindi Hobbs, Elaine Miller and Dr. Green for their compassion and perseverance to follow their heart and mind in this emotional issue. Thank-you again and again.......
